Here You Will Find A Simple Way To Do A
Custom Flame Paint Job.

First make sure that you start fresh, we strip all of our parts to bare metal,  then seal the tank with a tank liner.  Repair all dents by using a stud welder or a little body putty. After this we will use an acid etch primer then an epoxy primer. We will block sand everything until it is nice and straight. Re-prime if needed. We like to wet sand our parts with a 500 grit sand paper, then we are ready to spray a sealer on the tanks.
Next will come the paint. Apply about 4 coats or until covered.   After this, we like to clear coat or use an inter coat clear which will protect the paint. Now we are ready to lay out the flames.  We do this with a wax pencil and then after this you may do it with the tape. We find this to go pretty easy.  Here is a photo after we laid out the flames then applied the tape.

Now after you get this far,  you would want to mask the tank off so you only have the flames showing. This is how it should look.

You are now ready to start painting your flames any color you would like and may I suggest that you use a touch up paint gun. {this is what we call them} It is not as big and is easier to use for the smaller areas.

When you have done this go ahead and un-mask the tank and you should have something like this.

Now in the picture above (click on picture to view) you will see the wax markings  for our next set of flames.  Then just repeat what we talked about early and tape them out. Go ahead and paint them.  Below you will see the second set of flames.

After all of this you may notice some wax pencil still on the tank.  We use a wax and grease remover to remove this from the tank. Now all we do is clear coat. Then we would wet sand with a 1500 grit sand paper and polish the tank.

Here they are when it is all finished
Now that was pretty simple Right
